Camp Verde’s Centrally Located RV Parks

“Stay and play in the Verde Valley,” is the tagline of the Clear Creek RV Park. But it could also be the motto for all the RV parks in Camp Verde because they offer their guests a central location from which to explore the surrounding parks, creeks, monuments, trails and towns with their many attractions.

Camp Verde is so conveniently located that it’s easy to take day trips. Cities like Cottonwood, Sedona, Clarkdale, Jerome, Flagstaff, Payson and Prescott are just a short drive away.

However, there is no need to venture far from the RV parks.  Camp Verde has plenty to see and do right in its own backyard. In addition to restaurants, gas stations, churches and shops, there is Montezuma Castle, a national monument  considered to be the best preserved cliff dwelling in North America. Other attractions include Fort Verde State Historic Park, Out of Africa Wildlife Park,  and Cliff Castle Casino with its four restaurants and bowling alley. Beaver Creek Golf Resort is nearby with a lovely course and reasonable green fees.

The RV parks themselves surround Camp Verde like a garland. They offer the option of staying overnight or long term, often at considerable savings; and most have full hookups, water, restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. Some offer  amenities like general stores, swimming pools, cable TV hookup and WIFI.

A list of Camp Verde’s Parks

Clear Creek RV Park is eight miles outside of Camp Verde on Highway 260 towards Payson.  Mature trees line the park, and Clear Creek runs in a  nearby canal.  Many of the park’s residents enjoy gardening, which adds color and a homey touch.  The sites are large (about 25’ x 60’) and offer electric and sewer hookups.  Other amenities on site include showers, bathrooms, a Laundromat and a village store. http://www.clearcreekrv.com

Distant Drums RV Resort is a high-desert, luxury resort on Middle Verde Road just off I-17. The resort has 158 sites with level concrete pads and wide, paved roads.. Big rigs are welcome.  Each site comes with full hookups, including cable TV.  It’s also  possible to get a phone connection.  The resort is a WIFI  zone, and there is an events center. The resort prides itself on its amenities, which include private showers, an exercise room, a game room, a heated pool and Jacuzzi, and a country store.  Propane is available, and pets are welcome. http://www.distantdrumsrvresort.com/

Rancho Verde Park is a charming tree-studded RV park, only three miles from  I-17 and slightly west of the town of Camp Verde..  The site is  just uphill from a narrow ribbon of  the Verde River and has  rose bushes and picnic benches.  Rancho Verde Park welcomes both big rigs and tenters and offers full hook-ups.  There is a laundry on site, and the whole park is a WIFI zone. Across the street is The Willows, a retirement community. http://www.ranchoverdervpark.com/

Trail’s End RV Park is an adult-only RV park right in the town of Camp Verde. It is 1.2 miles from I 17 and  a short walk to a small shopping center, which includes a full-size grocery store, restaurants, a drug store and other shops.  The park has 40 sites with electric hookups. Cable is optional.  In addition to a propane refill station, the park offers basic amenities, including a dump station, restrooms with hot showers, and a laundry room. http://www.trailsend-rvpark.com/

Zane Grey RV Park is a pretty park with attractive landscaping and beautiful shade trees located just east of the town of Camp Verde, about 50 miles from Payson. There are 41 RV sites in this adult-oriented park. The level sites are 30’ x 60’ feet with full hookups and pull-thrus. .Big rigs are welcome. Fishing and hiking are nearby. There are no on-site amenities, but there are restrooms and a phone is available. http://www.zanegreyrvpark.com/
