WINTERTIME WEEKEND GET-AWAY:
Enjoy Wine, Pecan, & Antique Festival and Verde Valley Wine Tour
Camp Verde, AZ – Camp Verde, Ariz., in the heartland of the state, has historically been a food belt for the Verde Valley. And in keeping with the town’s rich agricultural heritage, the award-winning Wine, Pecan and Antique Festival will be back once again for the 10th year in a row.
This time around, the fun event just happens to fall on Valentine’s weekend, Feb. 12-14. What a great place to bring someone you love or someone you hope will fall in love with you.
Held downtown in the community center, the cost is only $12.50, which includes your entrance, tasting coupons and a commemorative wine glass.
All-time favorites include wines from the Verde Valley and Arizona, scrumptious pecan pies and desserts, booths loaded with antiques and collectibles, agricultural demonstrations, a car show, art, vendors, music, a nut contest, and much, much more.
Dates and times are: Friday, Feb. 12, noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 13, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Make it a weekend get-away. Enjoy the festival one day and the next day or two, take in a Verde Valley Wine tour and see some of the wonderful local sites such as Fort Verde, Montezuma Castle National Monument, Out of Africa Wildlife Park, and Cliff Castle Casino.
Over the weekend and in conjunction with the festival, the Buffalo Soldiers’ re-enactors will be in town at Fort Verde to honor African American Heritage Month.
Plan on staying at one of the town’s local hotel chains right off the interstate (I-17) or the casino lodge. There is also a lovely nearby B&B. If you have a RV, there are several RV parks in the area to choose from for your weekend excursion.
